YOUR NEW MOM FRIEND

hi, mama! I’m Karrie.

hi, mama! I’m Karrie.

and I'm here to say I totally get it. breastfeeding is HARD. postpartum is HARD. motherhood is HARD.

I’ve been a postpartum and neonatal nurse for nine years and I’m a certified lactation counselor. I thought I’d surely know exactly what to do when I brought my first baby home, but boy was I wrong! My first breastfeeding experience was hard AF, my baby was fussy, and I was overwhelmed — I quickly realized how the education around postpartum care and actually bringing your baby home from the hospital was seriously lacking. So, I decided to change that.

Everyone says “it all comes naturally” but the reality is that’s not always the case. Basic care for your baby, the basic care for YOURSELF, all the feelings associated with parenting, what to actually do with your fussy baby in the middle of the night, the continuation of breastfeeding past the first day or two, what happens when your milk really comes in — it’s a lot, it can be overwhelming, and through it all, mamas need help and support. I’m here to help.

so I started Karing for Postpartum in 2020, to be the resource that I wish I’d had.

In this space, I’ve combined my years of experience as a nurse with my own personal experience caring for my four babies. My goal is to help educate new parents about their babies, breastfeeding, and postpartum in a realistic way; so they feel confident in their journey from hospital to home and beyond.

A few other things you should know about me — I’m a total night owl (I used to work the night shift as a nurse!), I love a good mom bun, I haven’t met a taco/marg combo I didn’t like, and I’m a total nail enthusiast.

feel empowered

In the end, I want you to feel empowered in your new role as a parent IRL because it feels good to KNOW what’s going on (or at least be able to troubleshoot when things aren’t going as planned) and work through that confidently. I want you to feel confident and capable! You may not feel like it yet, but you truly know your baby best.
