The Big Diaper Comparison
WARNING: a few “graphic” (okay, baby poop and pee) photos included below! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
Diapers— one of the essentials for babyhood. As parents, we all want the best for our babies, right?! But, which one is “best”? Well, that’s going to vary based on preferences of the parents, as well as trial and error with baby (how does their skin react, how many leaks, etc). In this post, I am going to share how these popular disposable diaper brands faired with our baby + compiling some thoughts from my Instagram community of mamas as well. I will share general facts about the diapers, as well as pros/cons we noticed with persistent use in different categories (function, absorption, ingredients, cost. etc). We utilized a combination of these diapers for comparison purposes for 7 months!
I do want to note: I tried to list facts + a combo of my experience/opinion along with the KFP community’s experiences and opinions in this post. This is intended to be helpful and informative, not to make anyone feel upset or bad if you really love a diaper that has some “cons” in other people’s opinion! This is here to help you find and determine what you think may work best for you and your family—which is going to vary from the next person! To be honest, we aren’t even using the “best/most absorbent” option ourselves, because it can be difficult to justify the cost. For others, the cost may not matter! We have used pretty much every diaper (even beyond what’s listed here) between our 4 kids and they all truly have their own set of pros and cons!
What am I looking for?
Here’s the thing. A lot of diaper brands love to tout that they are “completely natural”, “plant-based”, “free from toxins”, and “eco-friendly”, but as of right now, no disposable diaper is completely “natural”, and only a small handful are biodegradable to some degree. Plus, the ‘breathable’ top layers of the diaper are typically made with some type of plastic— therefore— not completely eco-friendly, but effective. It is important, however, to look at what some of these brands are excluding to protect babies’ sensitive skin. Many of the brands below are somewhat plant-based and avoid many of the harmful toxins that many diapers use. Some more than others.
Many of the diapers listed below are hypo-allergenic (safe for babies’ skin, and significantly decrease potential for diaper rashes) and free from most toxins. Seeing what brands keep OUT of their diapers is important too! “Phthalates” are a big one to look for— as they are linked to Eczema, Asthma, and abnormal genital development. “Fragrances” is another term that can be used loosely— allowing companies to cover up certain chemicals, by calling them “fragrance”— since it’s not a term regulated by the FDA. “Lotions” may seem nice, but are completely unnecessary in a diaper, and can actually lead to diaper rash.
“Premium” Diaper Brands
These are the brands that are considered the “middle-upper class” of disposable diapers. Many of these boast being “extra absorbent”, “eco-friendly”, “plant based”, “better quality”, etc. I will do a separate post on those less expensive “middle of the road” diapers to compare as well (trust me, we’ve pretty much tried them all!). We are going to take a look inside the different components that make a good diaper, facts about each, and how they faired during our experience. We ended up switching to one of these brands (and it may not be the one you’d automatically think!)! Also- just FYI- this post isn’t sponsored by any of these brands. These were all purchased for use by us and all thoughts are our own, no bias! No affiliate links are included, whatsoever. This is just for informational purposes.
Coterie
Absorbency/Leaks— This diaper is touted as “one of the most absorbent” and the “Roles Royce” of diapers on the market and they also claim that there’s no need for different overnight diapers because these wick and absorb so well. I would agree for the most part. I think it’s amazing how well these wick moisture away from baby (which in turn may lead to less changes needed, diaper rash, and skin breakdown), but we did still experience some leaks and blowouts. However, if you read the “sizing” section below, you’ll understand why! I think it’s incredibly important to make sure you have the right size to help prevent the leaks to begin with— and the size chart they provide can be super misleading! Once we got in the right size, the leaks and blowouts subsided! A few women in my community stated that they “specifically use these diapers for ‘overnight diapers’ because they absorb so well and hold it in”, but saved on cost by not using them during the day (they are expensive!). They do wick away moisture so well, that Coterie claims you can wait longer between diaper changes (thus using less diapers overall). I did find this to be true- they are very absorbent in the proper size. I’d vote this one “most absorbent/moisture wicking” out of all the diapers listed here.
Eco- Friendly — They currently aren’t recyclable, but are working to bring the first diaper recycling plant to the US. I think it’s hard for disposable diapers to be 100% recyclable due to the absorbency layer, but sounds like they’re working on it. All of their packaging (box and materials) are recyclable. They are certified Home Compostable by TÜV Austria to be fully composted in less than 5 weeks (that’s faster than an apple core)”.
Materials— This diaper is incredible soft— no crunchy feeling! The diaper’s absorbent core is “made of sodium polyacrylate (SAP) and Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) wood pulp from sustainably managed forests”. The rest is made of polypropylene and polyester. Coterie diapers are clinically proven hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. “They’re EWG Verified, have received the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance™”.
They are free of:
fragrance
lotion
latex
rubber
dye
alcohol
heavy metals
parabens
phthalates
Chlorine bleaching
VOCs
optical brighteners
animal testing
harsh chemicals.
This is a big win for diapers!
Cost— based on size 4 diaper
Subscription: $85/box of 150 >> ~0.57 per diaper
Non-Subscription: $94.50/box of 150 >>~0.63 per diaper
Girl, they pricey! However, the subscription saves you 10% from that (I think $85/box) and obviously you’re going to get more # diapers in smaller sizes + less # diapers as baby gets bigger (so the cost per diaper increases as they age). They also base their subscription amount off of a certain # of diapers changed per day, and this may be so variable for babies, so that’s something to consider as well. For example, they recommend ~7 diapers used per day for a size 1 infant (8-12lbs). In my opinion as a nursery nurse and mom of 4, that’s not nearly enough for 24 hours! The quality is great, but you’re def paying for top notch quality. They do, however, offer a trial pack! You can order a pack of 10 diapers (in 2 diff sizes if you want!) for $8 to trial before signing up for a subscription. The shipping is still another $7.50— so you’re paying $15.50+ to trial 10 diapers. At least it’s an option!
Subscription/Store— These can be purchased on Coterie’s website and at some Whole Foods retailers, as well as Amazon Fresh Delivery. On Coterie’s website, you can purchase a “one time” box for 10% more cost without singing up for a subscription. Otherwise, the subscription is the other option.
Design— Simple, crisp design with wetness indicator and sizing indicators. No prints.
Wetness Indicator— yes, all sizes
Sizing— honestly, this was my least favorite thing about this diaper. The size chart they have listed is so off! I know all babies are different and charts are always a general guideline, but my son was falling in the lesser side of needing a size 3 (sizing chart says 14-24 lbs and my son was 16.5 lbs at the time of use). We continuously had blowouts when he wore them and I felt like the tabs didn’t pull far onto the diaper, thus telling me it was too “small” for him. I double checked the size chart and verified that I did order the right size. However, after talking with a friend who uses them— she told me that these diapers tend to run small. Luckily, the Coterie team had amazing customer service when I reached out informing them of the issue. They even gave me credit for all of our unused diapers (which they encouraged to donate!) to use for the next size up!
Overall— 4.5/5; VOTED “most absorbent/moisture wicking” out of this list of diapers
PROS: soft, free from important toxins, natural materials, very absorbent, wetness Indicator, simple Design, incredible Customer Support
CONS: expensive, sizing chart is way off, # of diapers per month may be “off”, especially for younger babies
Personal thoughts: You do get what you pay for— a luxe, soft, moisture wicking diaper service with amazing customer service support. But as a regular mom, I do struggle with spending so much money on disposable diapers when there are some other diapers that seemed to fit the bill for us— but that’s our opinion/thought. This diaper has a cult following and it really is incredible! I felt like these really wicked away the moisture as soon as my son peed and never gave that “damp” feeling on the outside of the diaper when it got super full if he gave me a random nighttime stretch. We did not get rashes with them either, which was a bonus with my son’s sensitive skin! I talked about the sizing chart being a big con for me, but I did want to mention their marketing here too. I do understand the intention, but they tend to capitalize on babies “sleeping better” when using this diaper. Even some of my community members said that! Though I think this can be helpful (having a more absorbent diaper) at night, I don’t think it’s going to magically make your baby sleep better unless they’re truly waking up due to leaks/blowouts. Trust me, Teddy still woke up plenty at night, no matter how absorbent of a diaper we used! Again, I do understand the point (ie: it’s super absorbent and moisture wicking, so more comfortable)— “my baby slept through the night when we started using Coterie!”— but I wanted to share that this is a really good diaper, not a miracle worker.
Here’s what my community says:
“We love Coterie. Less blowouts and so luxe feeling.”
“We tried Coterie and had tons of blowouts. Went back to Pampers Swaddlers.”
“The absorbency gets me extra sleep at night!”
Dyper
Absorbency/Leaks— these diapers seemed to hold in blowouts and we had just minimal leaking. We did have a few leaks, but it was when the diaper was pretty wet (after a random longer stretch of night sleep). It also felt like damp to the touch when full.
Eco- Friendly— Each purchase helps with reforestation efforts, they also offer a “REDYPER” service to pick up used diapers for you (but it’s costly + you need to make sure you have service in your area). Their diapers are compostable! I’d vote this one the most actual “eco-friendly” out of all the listed diapers!
Materials— These diapers are plant-based, made from bamboo. This diaper is pretty soft, but after using Coterie, I don’t think any other disposable diaper we have used would compare in lack of “crunchiness”. I would give it a close second on softness! These diapers are Standard 100, certified by OEKO TEX. Their site lists off the materials used here “TEXTILE CONTENT: Outside Cover, Inside Cover: 100% Viscose From Bamboo Fibers, Legcuffs: 100% PP, Inner Film: 100% Bioplastic, Elastics: 100% Elastane, Others. COMPONENTS: 22% Sodium Polyacrylate, 35% Elemental Chlorine-Free Wood Pulp, 4% Paper, 9% Polypropylene, 18% Viscose, 6% Bioplastic, 2.3% Adhesive, 3.7% Elastane”
Dyper diapers are free of :
chlorine
latex
alcohol
lotions
TBT
Phthalates
PVC
Antioxidants
Perfumes/Fragrances
Inks
Cost— based on size 3
Subscription: $89/box of 168 diapers >> ~0.52 per diaper
Non-subscription: $94.99/box of 168 diapers >>~0.56 per diaper this option is only available on Amazon
You can set how often you want to renew, which changes the cost, but the average is 4 weeks. They do offer 15% when signing up for subscription! They also offer a sample of 3 diapers for $3 (+$4 shipping) to trial before beginning a subscription. Here is the form to order samples. They also offer an “SOS” program where if you’re running low on diapers in a pinch, you tap the “SOS” button on their site and they will rush ship you a pack of 30-66 diapers depending on size. This can only be used twice per year (and restrictions apply), but that’s pretty awesome! They do also offer military discounts of 10% too!
Subscription/Store— These are subscription based, but do offer the trial packs and the SOS option too
Design— a simple, crisp white diaper with wetness indicator
Wetness Indicator— yes
Sizing— I thought the diaper ran pretty true to size. We ordered off of the size chart (my son was average size for his age at time of use), chose a size 3 and it fit perfectly.
Overall— 4.5/5; VOTED most “eco-friendly” out of all the listed diapers here
PROS: Free from important toxins, Bamboo, Compostable, Appropriate sizing, Plant-based, pretty absorbent, offers trial packs and SOS if running low, wetness indicator, option to return for REDYPER service
CONS: REDYPER compost service is $50/per box, we did experience some leaking with nighttime use and dampness when full, subscription only
Personal thoughts: I really liked this one! It was incredibly soft, kept the blowouts in, and I felt good about using them because they were actually eco-friendly, and kept so many toxins out of their diapers (safer for my babe!). I was surprised that we experienced dampness on a few random occasions that my Teddy slept a long stretch (around 5 hours). Overall, really good diaper.
Here’s what my community says:
“We love Dyper- it’s bamboo, minimal leaking, and compostable so feel good about the environment".”
“This diaper holds a ton of pee!”
“Dyper makes me feel good with the eco-friendliness”
Millie Moon
Absorbency/Leaks— These diapers were impressive in this department. Since this was one of the “less expensive options”, I didn’t expect it to hold up to the hype of the rest of these, but we never had issues with leaking in these diapers.
Materials— These were nice and soft, didn’t seem “crunchy”; inner layer is made from sustainably sourced wood pulp, and are Allergy Certified, Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Original Dermatest Certified (free from contact skin allergens and reactors in sensitized volunteers in controlled testing) here is the list of shared material info from their site:
“Our diapers are predominantly made of: totally chlorine-free fluff pulp, super absorbent material (SAP), polypropylene nonwoven fabrics, polyethylene film, together with some fastening and elastic materials. All materials undergo a stringent product safety assessment and are manufactured under strict guidelines.” They are free from:
lotion
phthalates
latex
chlorine
Cost— based on size 3, only option. is non-subscription
Non-Subscription: $24.99/box off 88 diapers>> 0.28/diaper
Millie Moon is by far one of the less expensive diapers in this market when compared the other brands listed. They also could be purchased at Target, so I didn’t need to sign up for a subscription!
Subscription/Store— these are for Target in-store purchases only, no subscription program; each purchase donates a portion to “Reach out and Read”— a children’s literacy program.
Design— Designs were simple and pretty neutral overall, also more “high-waisted” on baby, so did seem to hold in blowouts well, I did feel like the tabs sometimes weren’t “sticky” enough to stay fastened
Wetness indicator— yes, all sizes
Sizing— These seemed to run pretty large when compared to other brands we used (IE: we needed size 4 in Coterie/Dyper/Honest, but needed size 3 in Millie Moon). But their specific sizing chart was pretty accurate based on weight when we used these.
Overall— 4.3/5
PROS: Less expensive option, absorbent, high waisted, wetness indicators, available at Target, free from important toxins
CONS: Run large (important to read their specific sizing chart), non-sticky tabs at times, no subscription service
Personal thoughts: I really liked these too. When we aren’t experiencing rashes, leaks or blowouts with a diaper, I’m pretty easy to please! Plus, these are a really nice price point I felt. I also love that they were free from some of the super important toxins found in many diapers. I also felt like they weren’t “crunchy”’ like many diapers. we have used are. These were pretty soft, similar to higher-end brands in this post. The only small “issue” I had, as mentioned above, was the tabs occasionally not staying “sticky” enough to stick to the diaper. I am not sure if it was just the box we used, or what, but we had 4-5 like that. However, I really liked this brand and how it was available at Target!
Here’s what my community says:
“We switched from another brand to Millie Moon and had no more rashes!”
“We love Millie Moon at night because they’re so soft and no leaks".”
“I love that Millie Moon is slightly big, so you can use one size for a longer time before moving up.”
Honest
Absorbency/Leaks— We personally had a decent amount of leaks with these diapers. I felt like the leg ruffles never hugged my baby’s legs. We had multiple blowouts with these as well, even with sizing up. However, there are some parents in the KFP community who really like these and haven’t experienced leaks/blowouts as often as we did.
Eco- Friendly — Their site states: “All our diapers use a bio-based core of sustainably-harvested fluff pulp and plant-derived materials”, but do still use some petroleum-derived plastics in their inner core (polyethylene), so not completely eco-friendly
Materials— These were definitely more “crunchy” and less “soft” than some of the other diapers. They also had a “chemical-type” smell even though they’re “fragrance free”- not sure what it was. They do list off all of their ingredients (which not all diaper companies do!) here:
Absorbent Bio-Core [Totally Chlorine-Free (TCF) Wood Pulp From Sustainably Managed Forests, Sodium Polyacrylate Containing Renewable Materials & Odor Inhibitors Including Citrus Extract & Liquid Chlorophyll], Outer Layer(Plant-Based PLA), Inner Layer (Polyethylene & Polypropylene), Leg/Waist System (Polymer Spandex & Polypropylene), Polyolefin Adhesives in the Seams & Joints, Super-Cute Design on Backsheet (Inks)
They are free from:
Chlorine
Pthalates
Fragrance
Parabens
Latex
Cost— based on size 3
Subscription “bundled box”: $82.99/box of 189 diapers >>~0.44 per diaper *but you also get 4 packs of their wipes AND the option for 2 different sized diapers if you’re not sure what you’ll need or are between sizes!
Non-subscription: $27.99/box of 68 diapers >>~0.41 per diaper
Subscription/Store— These have the option for either, which is nice! Their “bundled box” is subscription based (and includes 4 packs of Honest wipes), but if you run short a month you can easily run to pick up at Target!
Design— They do have a lot of super cute prints to choose from, which can be really fun!
Wetness Indicator— yes, all sizes
Sizing— These seemed to run a tad small, we grew out of each size quickly. But, you can select 2 different sizes for your bundled box, which helps if you’re unsure of sizing or between sizes!
Overall— 3/5
PROS: Super cute prints, able to purchase in retailers like Target, hypo-allergenic, can choose 2 sizes for bundled box
CONS: Chemical smell, crunchy feel, less absorbent, run small
Personal thoughts: I tried these with my first 3 babies, thinking I’d love them or they’d change something each time but always ended up going back to a different brand. I absolutely adore the diaper prints they offer and love that they’re toxin-free (honestly, that’s a bigger deal to me than some other factors) since the diaper comes in contact with sensitive area. However, the sizing, smell, and feel weren’t great and my babies always have blowouts in these specifically, no matter the size. That’s been our experience!
Here’s what my community says:
“We liked Honest brand because of how they feel, the wetness indicator, and cute prints.”
“Honest fits great for my smaller baby!”
Hello Bello
Absorbency/Leaks— It was also requested we included these in the roundup— I had heard from a handful of parents in my community that they struggled with a lot of leaks and blowouts with these diapers, then I heard from other parents that these were incredible and they never had issues with leaks or blowouts— I didn’t know what to expect! I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised. In using these over the past month, we have not had a single blowout or leak (you can see below a saved potential blowout!). I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for overnight (if your baby sleeps through the night), since they’re a bit “thinner” but on the very rare occasion my baby has slept a long stretch, we still didn’t have leaks (you can see below how much the diaper held in after he slept a random long nighttime stretch one night).
Materials— Their site states their diaper contains the following ingredients “Totally chlorine free fluff pulp from sustainably managed forests, a unique high-performance Spherical Super Absorbent Polymer, polypropylene/polyethylene/polyester nonwoven fibers, plant-derived PLA nonwoven fiber, spandex strands, and an elastomeric film”
They are free of:
Chlorine
Latex
Fragrances
Lotions
Dyes
Pthatlates
Parabens
Cost — based on size 3 diapers
Subscription “bundled box”: $69.99/box of 182 diapers >> ~0.38 per diaper *but you also get 4 packs of wipes and one full sized sample product from any of their line to trial, as well as the option to choose 2 diaper sizes if you’re between sizes or unsure what size to order
Non-subscription: $33.74/box of 92 diapers>> ~0.36 per diaper
They also offer 20% off for military families + first responders!
Subscription/Store— I loved that you can purchase these easily at Walmart or CVS if you’re not wanting to do a subscription service. Amazon also carries them. Subscription/bundle boxes ship every 5 weeks, cancel anytime without issue. If you “add on” products (like household cleaners, bath goodies, etc) you get 15% off if you have a subscription!
Design— Adorable prints that change every month, which is so fun! Always different and something to look forward to!
Wetness Indicator— yes, only size 1,2, 3
Sizing— Based on my personal opinion combined with the opinion of my community, these diapers tend to run on the smaller side. I would consider sizing up 1 size. And the amazing thing? If you make a bundled box— you can select TWO different sized diaper packs to include in the box!
Overall— 4.3/5 In all honesty, I knew these would be cute and I love Kristen + Dax (owners), but I was super worried that they’d be too thin, and curious if they’d actually work well for my baby (he pees a TON!). I am pleasantly surprised! We have actually had such a good experience with them, that we’re still using them.
PROS: Absorbent for size, cute designs, ability to purchase in stores or online via subscription, less expensive option than others, ability to include 2 different sized diapers in the bundle box, box can be repurposed into a play box for your baby
CONS: A bit thinner than some of the comparing brands (though that didn’t affect absorption for us during the day!), run a tad small, wetness indicator stops after size 3, overnight absorption isn’t the greatest (per my community!), but many love for daytime use *they do offer an overnight diaper though
Personal thoughts: We have had a great experience with these thus far. I was a bit doubtful since they were less expensive and don’t get full and saggy (which made me think they may not absorb well). We had no rashes, leaking, or blowouts with using them and still are using them! I loved that they’re free from tons of toxins, have cute prints, and fit my babe well (though we did need to size up 1 size!). I loved doing their “bundled box” and the fact that you can pick 2 different sizes in the bundled box as well as wipes and a full sized product from their line. I love that you have the option to do a subscription, but also can just pick these up at Wal Mart if needed or running short! My only fear is that if Teddy slept longer stretches at night, it may not absorb throughout the night like Coterie or some of these other brands. They do, however, offer an overnight diaper I haven’t tried (or needed to try-ha!) yet.
Here’s what my community says:
“I love Hello Bello because my baby had less blowouts and I feel like the diapers don’t expand as much as others when they fill".”
“We have never had a blowout with Hello Bello!”
“I love Hello Bello for in between sizes. It seems to run smaller, so works for us when baby is going up in sizes.”
Huggies Special Delivery
Absorbency/Leaks— these diapers have a “leak lock system” that are supposed to wick away moisture for 12 hours— they seemed to hold in blowouts and leaks so we didn’t experience those during use
Eco- Friendly— 23% plant based, the rest is plastic based material (but at least they disclose their percentage!)
Materials— These were softer than I anticipated (more than Pampers Pure, original Huggies, or Honest Co). Unfortunately, I had to cease use with these after about 2 weeks due to the rashes they gave my son. They are free from a lot of things (see below), but don’t mention ptathlates, lotions, or dyes- not sure if that was our issue or not. These diapers are 23% plant-based. The ingredients are listed on their site here “Wood Pulp, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Polyrurethane elastics, Polyolefin Elastic, Adhesives, Colorants, Printing Inks, Sodium Polyacrylate, Polyester, Color-changing wetness indicator, Polyethylene Derived from Sugarcane, Viscose”
These diapers are free of :
Fragrances
Elemental Chlorine (not TCF= total chlorine free)
Parabens
Cost— based on size 3, non-subscription only option
Non-subscription: $57.99/ box of 156 diapers >> ~0.37 per diaper
Subscription/Store— Available in stores like Walmart, Target, and on Amazon
Design— simple designs, newborn sizes have the umbilical notch to protect their healing umbilical site
Wetness Indicator— yes, all sizes
Sizing— ran pretty true to size for us, most parents in my community who used them thought they were overall pretty TTS/maybe a smidge large
Overall— 3.75/5
PROS: inexpensive, decent absorption, some plant based materials, wetness indicator and umbilical notch on newborn diapers
CONS: Got a rash with these; Not completely free of toxins like many of its plant-based diaper competitors are, no subscription service option
Personal Thoughts— I do think these were okay as far as absorption, but the rashes we got from them were intense! Again, my baby’s skin is different from the next baby, but that did play into my thoughts with this diaper— it wasn’t as “free from toxins” as they marketed it. If there aren’t toxins in a diaper + the absorption isn’t the problem, then what is? Anyway, that’s our personal side, but I will say the absorption and fit when we used it was pretty good! We didn’t have leaks or blowouts, it fit well without crazy sizing, and it was pretty well priced overall. Plus, I loved the idea that I could run down to the local store and pick them up if needed! I just felt that there were better options at a similar price point with no rashes.
Here’s what my community says:
“I love Huggies SD because they’re plant-based and easy to find in store!”
“ I loved these because they kept everything! No leaks!”
Pampers Pure Protection
Absorbency/Leaks— absorbent and offer “12 hours of leakage protection”; we did not experience leaks with use, but did have a few blowouts when wearing this brand.
Eco- Friendly— these are considered “plant-based”, but don’t disclose what percentage of plant based materials they actually use (ie: Huggies SD is a low percent, but at least disclose it!)
Materials— In my opinion, this diaper was a bit more “crunchy” than I was expecting. Even the Huggies SD was softer to the touch. It was more comparable. to the Honest Co diaper feel. These diapers are somewhat plant-based. The ingredients are listed on their site here “Totalchlorine-free fluff pulp, super absorbent polymer, Polypropylene and polyester, polyethylene, inks, adhesives, elastics, Petrolatum, stearyl alcohol, and aloe barbadensis leaf extract”
These diapers are free of :
Fragrances
Lotions
Chlorine
Parabens
Cost— based on size 3, non-subscription only option
Non-subscription: $42.99/ box of 116 diapers >> ~0.37 per diaper
Subscription/Store— Available in stores like Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, CVS, and on Amazon
Design— sweet, simple designs
Wetness Indicator— yes, all sizes
Sizing— ran pretty true to size for us, most parents in my community who used them thought they were overall pretty TTS
Overall— 3.3/5
PROS: good absorption, inexpensive, some plant based materials, wetness indicator and free from *some toxins
CONS: Not nearly as “soft” as its competitors, had multiple blowouts in these ourselves, not completely free of toxins (ptathlates, dyes, etc) like many of its plant-based diaper competitors are, no subscription service option
Personal thoughts— They were not very soft (when compared to its competitors listed here), but definitely softer than its other branded diapers like Pampers Swaddlers. The absorption was decent, but we did have some blowouts with these diapers. I felt like at least a few times a week, we would get blowouts up the back and out the legs. I tried sizing up and it did lessen the issue, but it still happened more than I’d like! I was also a bit disappointed that this diaper is marketed as toxin-free + plant-based, but isn’t free from some of the most important toxins like pthalates, and doesn’t disclose how “plant based” they really are. They are available at local stores, which is always a bonus!
Here’s what my community says:
“We love Pampers Pure- they’re soft and absorb so well!”
“ We have never had issues with leaks or rashes!”
